The gold standard of interventional radiology meetings has come to the Golden State at a time of growth and opportunity in the specialty.
SIR 2018 promises to be comprehensive, current and core to your practice with its variety of learning environments and access to the leading thinkers in interventional radiology.
The Annual Meeting Committee dedicated itself to creating a meeting that celebrates the diverse nature of IR. This year’s roster of presenters includes many of the pioneers and experts in the field, who remain the educational core of the annual meeting, but the committee specifically added more first-time presenters to increase the number of fresh viewpoints.
“We have made a concerted effort to create a program that broadly represents our membership,” said Annual Meeting Program Committee Chair Brian Funaki, MD, FSIR. “We sought to eliminate multiple talks by any single person and look to a variety of speakers with differing experience and backgrounds. We hope this makes the meeting more inclusive and allows for a broader learning experiences across our entire demographic.”
The IR field has always been a broad specialty, caring for almost every body system. SIR 2018’s schedule reflects the wide-ranging nature of the specialty.
In addition to expanding the number of presenters, the committee paid special attention to developing a balanced and comprehensive education program.
“This is one of the few meetings where nearly anyone in IR can walk into almost any room at any time and learn useful and fascinating things,” Dr. Funaki said.
The annual meeting offers several special events and networking opportunities where attendees can make new connections. These are great opportunities to reconnect with old friends, colleagues and mentors, recharge and remember why being in IR matters. And remember to share your meeting experience by using the hashtag #SIR18LA with your Twitter and Facebook posts.
